Sourdough Cheesy Chive Biscuits
These biscuits were SO yummy and very similar to ones you can get at a popular seafood restaurant. Here’s how I made them!
Ingredients:
For 24 biscuits
500g all purpose flour
20g baking powder
2 tsp salt
340g butter, cubed
230g cheese
1/2 cup ish chopped chives
100g sourdough discard
1 cup milk
1 tbsp garlic powder
1 tbsp parsley
(Optional) 1 tbsp paprika
For egg wash:
1 egg + 3 tbsp water
Method:
Preheat your oven to 400F.
In a large bowl, whisk together your flour, asking powder, salt, garlic powder, parsley, and paprika. Set aside.
Add your cubed butter into your dry ingredients and mix with your hands by squishing the butter between your fingers and mixing thoroughly with your dry ingredients until it becomes a very crumbly dough.
Add in your cheese and chives and continue to mix.
In a separate bowl or measuring cup, mix up your sourdough discard and milk together until combined. Pour this over your dry ingredient mixture.
Toss with your hands until the dough forms. It shouldn’t be too sticky and should be relatively easy to work with.
Turn your dough out onto a floured surface and divide into 24 even pieces.
Roll each piece into a ball with your hands and flatten into a disc. Place on a baking sheet about 1.5-2 inches apart. You should be able to fit 12 biscuits on each baking sheet.
Paint each biscuit with some of your egg wash.
Bake in your preheated oven for 25 minutes.
Let me know if you guys try this one and what you think! :)
