Homemade Hummus

Making your own hummus is significantly cheaper than what’s in the store and you are able to control what ingredients are in it. Here’s how I made mine this past weekend!

Ingredients:

  • 1 can of chickpeas, drained and rinsed

  • The juice of a large lemon or 1/4 cup lemon juice

  • 1/4 cup tahini

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced very well

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 1/2-1 tsp ground cumin

  • Salt and pepper to taste, maybe 1/2tsp-1tsp

  • 2-3 tbsp cold water

Method:

  1. In a food processor, whip your lemon juice and tahini

  2. Add in your olive oil and garlic and continue to process for another minute

  3. Add in your chickpeas, salt, pepper, and cumin. Process until ground, there is likely going to be pieces of chickpeas and the mixture will be too thick to mix. Add in your cold water at this point and continue to process in your food processor until your desired consistency has been reached.

  4. Transfer to a jar and store in the refrigerator. If serving for a party, garnish with some more olive oil and some paprika for a nice presentation.

  5. I would keep this in the refrigerator for 7 days

Let me know if you guys try this one and what you think! :)
