Homemade Barbecue Sauce

I am a huge fan of barbecue sauce, but the store bought versions seem to always have unnecessary filler ingredients that we personally try to avoid. So, this year I decided to start making my own and I’ll never go back. It’s awesome as a wing sauce, dipping sauce, or to make an awesome bbq chicken salad with. Here’s how I make mine:

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 cups ketchup (I aim to get ketchup that has no added sugar in general, but I especially recommend it for this recipe because we will be adding in sugar)

  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar (this can be bumped up to 1/2 cup if you would like, but my kids and I like it a little more sweet than vinegary)

  • 3 tbsp brown sugar (adding more tsp by tsp if you feel it needs more when you taste the final product)

  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce

  • 1-2 tbsp Dijon mustard

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • (Optional) 1 tsp cumin

Method:

  1. Combine all your ingredients into a jar and mix well until your ingredients have combined and the brown sugar is dissolved. Be sure to taste your final product and make adjustments as you feel.

  2. Cover and store in the refrigerator for up to 14 days.

Let me know if you guys try this one and what you think! :)
