Homemade Brown Sugar
Homemade brown sugar is one of the easiest ways to save money when you are trying to make more things from scratch. You just need two things: the regular cane sugar you’re already buying, and molasses! Although molasses seems expensive, it stretches for a LONG time. I bought a bottle almost a year ago (a large bottle), and I’m only about a third of the way through it without ever buying brown sugar from the store in the past year. Here’s how I make our brown sugar!
Ingredients:
For every cup of cane sugar you are using, you will need 1-2 tsp of molasses depending on if you would prefer a light brown sugar or a dark brown sugar.
Method:
Combine the cane sugar and molasses in a bowl, mix with a stand mixer using the whisk attachment or by hand using your hands or a whisk. Store in an airtight container.
